Bhubaneswar, Oct. 19 -- Notorious criminal Bunty Prasad was injured in a police encounter near Ambadahara forest in Odisha's Jharsuguda at around 6 am on Monday. He sustained a bullet injury to his left leg and was admitted to Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.

According to police records, as many as 17 cases remain registered against Bunty for his alleged involvement in various criminal activities. He had reportedly been evading the police for a long time.

Reports suggest that Bunty allegedly opened fire at the police after spotting them near Ambadahara forest. Following this, the encounter took place.
