Bhubaneswar, April 7 -- A meeting of senior BJD leaders from Jajpur district was held on Tuesday at the official residence of Opposition Chief Whip Pramila Mallik, amid recent developments within the party. 

The meeting assumes significance following the suspension of two senior leaders from Bhadrak on charges of anti-party activities.

The discussion comes a day after former Bhadrak MP Manjulata Mandal and former Dhamnagar MLA Muktikanta Mandal were suspended from the BJD. The action was taken on Monday over allegations of anti-party activities.

According to reports, both leaders are likely to join the BJP, triggering concerns within sections of the BJD party regarding organisational stability.
