Bhubaneswar, Feb. 26 -- The serene waters off Puri transformed into a breathtaking spectacle on Thursday as playful dolphins were spotted leaping gracefully in the sea. The rare and delightful sight offered beachgoers a refreshing glimpse of Odisha's vibrant marine life. Irrawaddy and bottlenose dolphins, which typically inhabit Chilika Lake, were seen travelling as far as the Chandrabhaga coast.
The increased dolphin activity is being attributed to the absence of fishing boat operations on Thursdays. With boats not venturing into the sea, the waters remained calm and undisturbed, creating an ideal environment for the marine mammals to surface and glide freely.
