Indian Railways sounds Nationwide alert; passengers asked to report suspicious activity
Bhubaneswar, May 22 -- Amid growing concerns over recent incidents targeting railway infrastructure and passenger safety, the Ministry of Railways has launched a nationwide security push, urging passengers to remain alert and immediately report any suspicious activity through Railway helpline number 139.
The warning comes after multiple incidents across the country, including recent fire-related cases, where preliminary investigations reportedly pointed towards the involvement of anti-social elements. Taking the matter seriously, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw chaired a high-level security review meeting at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi with senior Railway Board officials and field officers from across India.
