Bhubaneswar, March 18 -- India is significantly stepping up its battle against food adulteration through a combination of stricter enforcement, scientific testing, and technology-backed inspection systems. Recent data indicates that regulatory authorities are not only expanding surveillance but also strengthening accountability across the food supply chain.
Over the past three years (2022-23 to 2024-25), food safety authorities across the country have tested more than 5.18 lakh food samples. These checks covered a wide range of commonly consumed items such as milk, ghee, spices, paneer, and honey-categories often vulnerable to adulteration.
The findings led to strong enforcement actions:
