Bhubaneswar, June 28 -- In a significant development, the Jagatsinghpur district administration has seized illegally stored sand worth more than Rs 1 crore during a major enforcement drive at Shankharisahi in Biridi block on Sunday.

According to officials, more than 500 trips worth of sand had been illegally stockpiled at the site. Acting on information about the illegal storage, the district administration carried out a raid and seized the entire stock.

The administration has estimated the value of the seized sand to be over Rs 1 crore, making it one of the significant seizures in the district in recent times.
