Bhubaneswar, June 5 -- Police seized four Hyva trucks and three tractors and arrested five persons during a crackdown on the alleged illegal transportation of sand in Gajapati on Friday.

A raid was conducted on State Highway No. 4, where the vehicles were intercepted while reportedly transporting sand illegally.

According to police, the vehicles were stopped and inspected while transporting sand along the highway. During verification, authorities found alleged irregularities linked to the transportation.

As a result, four Hyva trucks and three tractors were seized on the spot.

Police registered a case against those involved on charges of illegal sand extraction, overloading and theft of government mineral resources.
