Hundreds of farmers gherao CSO office over paddy procurement delays in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, June 14 -- The paddy procurement crisis in Odisha's Subarnapur district continues to deepen, with hundreds of farmers protesting against delays in the lifting of harvested paddy from local mandis. The situation became particularly severe on Sunday at Binika mandi, where nearly 70 truckloads of paddy remain stranded despite repeated appeals from farmers.
Frustrated by the lack of administrative action, more than 100 farmers gathered at the District Civil Supplies Office (DSO) in Binika and staged a sit-in protest, demanding immediate intervention. The local farmers alleged that large quantities of paddy have been lying in the mandi for days, causing anxiety among cultivators who are waiting for their produce to be transported...
