Bhubaneswar, June 12 -- A powerful Kalbaisakhi storm left a trail of destruction in Ganjam district's Sorada town, uprooting trees, damaging public infrastructure and disrupting power supply for more than 12 hours. The storm, which lashed the area on Thursday evening, caused extensive damage within a short span, leaving residents struggling with blocked roads, power outages and water scarcity.

Strong winds and heavy rain damaged several parts of the town, including the indoor stadium whose roof was partially blown away. Rainwater entered the stadium premises, causing substantial damage. Electricity poles and wires were also uprooted at several locations, disrupting power supply across the area.
