Bhubaneswar, April 25 -- In a historic first, wood for the construction of the sacred chariots for the upcoming world famous Rath Yatra festival in Puri has been sent from Kandhamal district's Baliguda forest division, specifically from the Kotgarh forest range on Saturday.
A total of 23 logs of Dhaura wood were reportedly transported to Puri in a trailer under tight security arrangements.
The consignment was ceremonially flagged off by Kandhamal District Collector Vedbhushan, Baliguda DFO Ghanashyam Mohanta, and devotees of Lord Jagannath, who also performed rituals and offered prayers.
