Bhubaneswar, June 6 -- Half-burnt body of a police constable was recovered from the Bijipur Police Colony in Berhampur on Saturday. Questions were raised over the circumstances that led to his death.

The deceased has been identified as Ashutosh Mrudangia, an MV Constable. He was found in a severely burnt condition on Friday and was rushed to hospital. He was later shifted to AIIMSBhubaneswar. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

While it is being reported that Ashutosh may have attempted self-immolation, the exact cause of the fire had not been established at the time of reporting.

Ashutosh was residing at the Bijepur Police Colony with his wife, who is also reportedly a police constable.
