Bhubaneswar, April 8 -- Heavy hailstorms accompanied by strong winds swept across several parts of Odisha on Tuesday, causing damage to houses and crops, officials said.
In Bolangir district, the Patnagarh area witnessed intense hailstorm activity for nearly half an hour. Hailstones covered the roads, creating a scene resembling snowfall in northern regions.
The storm caused significant damage in Patnagarh and Khaprakhol blocks, where the roofs of several houses were reportedly damaged. Standing summer crops were also affected, adding to the concerns of farmers.
The hailstorm also led to the shedding of mahua flowers, impacting local livelihoods dependent on seasonal forest produce.
