Bhubaneswar, March 11 -- The Government of India is reportedly exploring the possibility of charging users Rs 1 for every 1GB of data consumed. As per reports, the proposal is still at a preliminary stage and is being studied by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
The idea surfaced during a review meeting of the telecom sector. During the meeting, officials were asked to examine whether a data usage levy could be implemented and what impact it might have on consumers and the telecom industry.
