Bhubaneswar, March 26 -- The Government of India on Thursday announced a major welfare measure for gallantry award recipients, granting railway travel concessions to those honoured with the Sena Medal, Nau Sena Medal and Vayu Sena Medal. The order extends lifetime complimentary travel on Indian Railways in First Class, 2 AC and AC Chair Car categories.

Under the provision, awardees can travel along with one companion. The benefit also applies to their spouses-widows or widowers until remarriage-and to the parents of unmarried personnel who received the awards posthumously.

Alongside this move, the government has strengthened efforts to support ex-servicemen and ex-Agniveers in transitioning to civilian life. A "Framework of Cooperation"...
