Bhubaneswar, June 18 -- In a major relief for millions of salaried employees across the country, the government has approved an 8.25 per cent interest rate on Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) deposits for the financial year 2025-26. With the approval now in place, more than 7 crore contributing subscribers are likely to see the interest credited to their EPF accounts this month.

According to sources, the Finance Ministry has ratified the 8.25 per cent interest rate recommended by the Central Board of Trustees (CBT), the apex decision-making body of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). The proposal had been approved by the CBT during its meeting on March 2, 2026, chaired by Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
