Bhubaneswar, Aug. 14 -- MLA Sofia Firdous has called for the revival of student elections in educational institutions in Odisha, saying young people need platforms to express their ideas, develop leadership skills and participate in healthy democratic competition.

Speaking to media, Firdous said the Gen Z generation possesses considerable talent and new ideas but is not getting adequate opportunities to showcase them. She pointed out that students' union elections have remained suspended since 2018 and expressed disappointment that despite assurances, the elections have not yet been resumed.
