Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 -- A massive stock of ganja stored in a forest for suspected interstate transportation was seized by police in Odisha's Gajapati on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, Adava police and security personnel raided a dense forest near Galimera village under Guluba panchayat and recovered 10 quintals and 75 kg of ganja.

The contraband was allegedly packed in 43 sacks and kept hidden in the forest ahead of its transportation to other states. The estimated value of the seized ganja is said to be more than Rs 1 crore.

The police team carried out a surprise operation and seized the entire stock before it could be transported. However, the accused allegedly fled the spot during the raid.
