Bhubaneswar, June 8 -- Baikuntha Nath Behera, who began his career as a Junior Engineer with a modest monthly salary of around Rs 6,000 in Odisha government service in 1999, has allegedly accumulated properties to the tune of several crore rupees and is now under the Vigilance scanner.

He has now been arrested but the reports of Odisha Vigilance seizing over Rs 2 crore cash and documents related to building and lands worth multi-crores have caught the attention of people, while raising questions over the level of alleged deep-rooted corruption in Odisha.

On June, Odisha Vigilance sleuths raised properties linked to Behera on allegations of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
