Bhubaneswar, Nov. 4 -- The floodwaters have started receding, but the devastation left behind by Cyclone Arnab and the subsequent flooding of the Rushikulya River continues to haunt residents of Indragarh village under Raikia block in Kandhamal district. Several houses have been washed away while others have been buried under heaps of mud, stones and debris, leaving around 20 families homeless.

With their houses destroyed and belongings swept away, the affected families are now taking shelter in a school building. For many, the flood has wiped out everything they had painstakingly accumulated over a lifetime, leaving them with little more than the clothes they managed to save.
