Bhubaneswar, Aug. 7 -- Police arrested son-in-law of former MLA Subash Chandra Panigrahi, Sabyasachi Mishra, on charges of dowry harassment and issuing death threats to his wife. Deogarh Police apprehended Mishra from Angul and produced him before a local court on Friday.

As per reports, the accused resides in GGP Colony under Mancheswar Police Station limits in Bhubaneswar.

The arrest follows a formal complaint lodged by the former legislator's daughter, Sonali Panigrahi, at Deogarh Police Station on April 13, 2026. In her complaint, she alleged that her husband and in-laws subjected her to physical assault, continuous dowry demands, and threats to her life.
