Flood fear returns to Balasore as rivers cross danger mark after heavy rainfall
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17 -- Odisha's Balasore district is once again battling a flood situation following incessant rainfall, which has disrupted normal life for villagers. More than two feet of water has accumulated on Nuasahi road, severely affecting traffic movement between Remuna and Balasore.
The district recorded 93.1 mm of rainfall by 5:30 am, with the persistent downpour leading to a rapid rise in water levels across several rivers. The situation has raised fresh concerns in low-lying areas, particularly as rain continues.
Jalaka Crosses Danger Mark
The Jalaka river has already crossed its danger level at Mathani. Against the danger mark of 6.50 metres, the river was flowing at 6.52 metres at 6 AM.
