Bhubaneswar, July 6 -- Relentless rainfall triggered flash floods in Odisha's Sambalpur district, severely disrupting normal life and inundating several low-lying areas. In a tragic incident, one person went missing after a scooter carrying two riders was swept away by a sudden surge of water in a drainage channel at Bagdihipada on the outskirts of Sambalpur on Sunday night.

According to reports, the two riders were attempting to cross the overflowing drain when the scooter was caught in the strong current and swept away. While one of them managed to escape to safety, the other was washed away and remains missing.
