Bhubaneswar, April 16 -- A major anti-Maoist operation is underway in the Saranda-Baliba forest area of Jharkhand. Five jawans were injured during an exchange of fire with Maoists on Thursday. 

The injured personnel were airlifted for treatment, with one reported to be in critical condition.

The development comes amid intensified security operations in the forested region following intelligence inputs about Maoist presence.

According to reports, the area witnessed intense activity due to an IED explosion and subsequent gunfire. Five personnel of the CoBRA Battalion sustained injuries during the operation.

Of the five injured, four were reported to be in stable condition at the time of reporting, while one jawan remained critical....
