Bhubaneswar, July 10 -- A fisherman went missing after falling from a boat while fishing in the Daya river at Jagulaipada under Kanas block of Odisha's Puri district on Friday. Fire Services personnel launched a search operation soon after the incident, but the fisherman remained untraced till the filing of this report.

The missing fisherman has been identified as Dibana Behera. According to sources, he had gone into the river along with his father, Prakash Behera, after floodwater entered the Daya river for the first time this monsoon. The first floodwater is believed to attract more fish, prompting local fishermen to head into the river.
