Feast on ASI-protected Atharanala bridge triggers outrage in Puri
Bhubaneswar, June 23 -- A feast organised by labourers on the historic Atharanala bridge in Puri, Odisha has sparked widespread outrage, with questions being raised over how such an activity was allowed on a protected heritage structure under the conservation of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The incident reportedly took place on Monday when labourers engaged in road repair work over the Atharanala area lit stoves and cooked meat on the historic bridge. Visuals from the spot are said to show firewood, cooking arrangements and food preparation on the monument premises.
