Fake Secretariat Officer arrested in Bhubaneswar; accused of blackmail, fraud, and dodging Rs 1.5 lakh car rental bill
Bhubaneswar, July 12 -- Police officials arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a senior government official and cheating people by posing as a 'Secretariat Inquiry Officer'. The accused, identified as Ashish Kumar Samal, allegedly used a fake identity to extort money, conduct unauthorized raids, and blackmail people in Puri and Konark.
According to police, Ashish introduced himself as a high-ranking Secretariat official and claimed to be an Inquiry Officer. Using this false identity, he allegedly carried out fake inspection raids at various locations and intimidated local residents and business owners in the Puri and Konark areas, reportedly blackmailing them for money.
