Bhubaneswar, Sept. 29 -- An Excise Department raid against alleged illegal liquor trade turned violent in Alangpani village under Dhuruadihi police limits in Sundargarh district of Odisha after a group of suspected liquor smugglers allegedly attacked the officials and damaged their vehicle.

The village was reportedly witnessing large-scale illegal trade in country-made and foreign liquor. Acting on information about the illegal trade, a special Excise Department team reached Alangpani to conduct a raid.
