Bhubaneswar, July 8 -- The Excise Department seized a large consignment of foreign liquor and beer, which was being illegally transported sans valid documents, during a raid near Bridge Chhak in Odisha's Boudh district, official sources said on Wednesday.

A pickup vehicle carrying the illegal consignment was intercepted during a special checking drive based on specific intelligence.

During the search, officials recovered around 509 litres of foreign liquor and 507 litres of beer from the vehicle. The seized liquor is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 8.95 lakh, according to official information.

During verification, the driver reportedly told officials that the liquor had come from Odisha State Beverage Corporation (OSBC) Limited....
