India, Sept. 20 -- A decomposed carcass of an elephant was recovered from the Ambatumba forest under the Raibania police station area in Odisha's Balasore district on Sunday, triggering concern among local residents and forest officials.

The carcass was spotted by some local residents who had gone into the forest in the morning. They subsequently informed the Forest Department about the matter. Following the information, senior forest officials, along with a veterinary team, reached the spot and launched an investigation into the elephant's death.
