Bhubaneswar, March 29 -- The skeletal remains of 'Ramu', a tusked elephant, will be shifted to Godibari under the Chandaka Wildlife Division from the wildlife range office in Bhubaneswar after nearly three and a half months, officials said.
The buried skeletal remains of the tusker were excavated on December 9 from the forest area of Bharatpur-Dampada. During the recovery operation, around 250 bone fragments were collected. These were later processed and preserved for display at Godibari.
According to forest officials, 'Ramu' is suspected to have died in 2024 due to electrocution. Following the recovery, the remains were kept at the Bhubaneswar wildlife range office for examination and documentation.
