Bhubaneswar, Aug. 9 -- An elderly man was swept away in floodwaters while he had gone to attend nature's call, triggering concern among residents of Shikarpanga village in Mahakalapada area of Kendrapara district on Sunday.

The unfortunate incident took place near Kulanala, a branch of the Chitrotpala River, amid the prevailing flood situation in the area. The elderly man reportedly lost his footing and was swept away by the strong current.

Search Operation Underway For Missing Man

According to preliminary information, the elderly man had gone to relieve himself when he accidentally came in contact with the floodwater. The strong flow reportedly carried him away, leaving his family and local residents in shock.
