India, July 22 -- Passenger safety at railway stations is set to get a technological boost with the introduction of an AI-powered rover by the East Coast Railway. Named 'DAC Arjun', the smart robotic surveillance system has been inducted to monitor stations, detect emergencies and assist railway authorities in crowd management.

Developed at a cost of around Rs 40 lakh, the rover is equipped with advanced Artificial Intelligence-based technology and seven 360-degree AI cameras. It will keep constant watch over station premises and immediately alert officials if it detects passengers entering railway tracks, suspicious activities or emergencies such as fire incidents.
