East Coast Railway intensifies drinking water tests and quality checks at stations
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 25 -- East Coast Railway will step up inspections and cleaning of drinking water facilities at stations as part of a special drive launched by Indian Railways to improve water quality and passenger amenities.
The drive will cover water sources, treatment and filtration plants, underground and overhead tanks, water booths, taps, coolers and other water dispensing points.
As part of the exercise, drinking water tanks will be drained, cleaned, scrubbed and disinfected. Officials will check tank covers, vents and overflow points to prevent contamination from birds, animals and algae.
