Drunk men, domestic violence: Nabarangpur women hit streets, demand complete alcohol ban
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 14 -- Women in Odisha's Nabarangpur launched a campaign against alcohol on Friday, joining hands to push for an alcohol-free village and panchayat. The women gathered on the village street and began an anti-liquor drive, during which liquor bottles and pouches were destroyed.
The campaign was carried out by women from Kangra village under Chakalapadar panchayat of Jharigaon police station limits. They said the initiative was aimed at removing alcohol from the village and creating a liquor-free environment.
During the campaign, some women broke foreign liquor bottles, while others used sticks to destroy liquor pouches. The women also destroyed country-made and foreign liquor worth thousands of rupees.
