Dreaded criminal injured in police encounter in Sambalpur; pistol and 3 cartridges seized
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 13 -- A wanted criminal was injured in police firing in the Sadar police station area of Sambalpur on Sunday morning. The injured accused has been identified as Mohammad Irfan of Sunapali.
As per reports, the accused has more than 24 case registered against him. The charges include robbery, loot, aluminium wire theft, theft and drug-related offences.
At around 5.45 am today, Sadar police intercepted a motorcycle near the Sudunga forest on Canal Road. Irfan was travelling on the bike along with two of his associates.
While police managed to apprehend the two associates, Irfan allegedly tried to escape. During his attempt to flee, he allegedly opened fire at the police. He reportedly fired three rounds.
