Bhubaneswar, Aug. 31 -- Sundargarh Police on Sunday arrested undertrial prisoner Tekchand Behera, who had escaped from the District Headquarters Hospital while undergoing treatment. The murder accused was traced near Rupabahal forest and was sent back to judicial custody.

As per reports, Behera was lodged in Sundargarh Jail as an undertrial prisoner. He was admitted to the surgery ward of the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital on August 25 following health issues.

Behera, however, escaped from the hospital at night on the pretext of going to the toilet. Following his disappearance, the jail authorities alerted the police and began efforts to trace him.
