Divine 'Serpent Leela' at Puri Srimandir: Lord Jagannath to adorn Kaliyadalan Besha today
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 7 -- Lord Jagannath will appear in the Kaliyadalan Besha at PuriSrimandir on Monday as part of the rituals associated with Sri Krishna Leela during the month of Bhadrav. The Kaliyadalan ritual and Dhenukasura Badha ritual will also be performed at the Jagannath Temple on the occasion.
In the Kaliyadalan Besha, Lord Jagannath will be seen in a posture depicting Lord Sri Krishna dancing on the seven-hooded Kaliya serpent. The Kaliya serpent will be shown covering the Lord's sacred body.
Kaliyadalan is one of the childhood adventures of Lord Sri Krishna described in the Puranas. According to the mythological account, Kaliya lived in the Kalindi lake and poisoned the surrounding environment with his venom.
