Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24 -- Three mud houses collapsed in Mantapada village under Aska block in Odisha's Ganjam district late Wednesday night following continuous rainfall, leaving three families without shelter.

Although the houses were completely damaged, the residents managed to escape safely before the structures collapsed, averting a major tragedy.

The damaged houses belonged to Bulu Khatei, Ramesh Khatei and Dhoba Gauda. All three were mud-built structures with thatched roofs and reportedly gave way amid persistent rain in the area.

The occupants were able to move out in time, and no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
