Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25 -- Deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has weakened, but its effects continue to be felt across Odisha. Southern and western districts have been witnessing persistent spells of rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of the state on Friday.

According to reports, Koraput, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur have been placed under a red warning. The weather department predicted that rainfall intensity may remain high across most parts of Odisha.

The depression is expected to move towards Chhattisgarh on Friday. This may lead to heavy rainfall in southern and western Odisha. The impact is likely to be more pronounced in areas adjoining Chhattisgarh.
