Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24 -- A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal made landfall near Kalingapatnam, between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur, around 11:30 pm on Wednesday night. The system crossed the coast about 30 km southwest of Kalingapatnam, with the landfall process continuing for nearly three hours.

According to reports, the deep depression was moving at around 7 kmph, while maximum wind speeds of 55-65 kmph were recorded during the landfall. Although the system has crossed the coast, its impact is expected to continue over the region for several more hours.
