Bhubaneswar, Sept. 10 -- A low-pressure area formed over the North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on Wednesday under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh. The system formed over the region at 5:30 am on Thursday, as reported by the IMD.

The formation of the low-pressure area is likely to trigger heavy rainfall across Odisha. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Bhubaneswar issued a red warning for Mayurbhanj for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Keonjhar, Balasore and Bhadrak have been placed under an orange warning.
