Bhubaneswar, Oct. 27 -- Rain accompanied by strong winds started on Tuesday in several parts of Odisha's Gajapati district, including Mohana, due to Cyclone Arnab. The rainfall continues to increase, affecting normal activities and raising concerns over crop damage, transport and the safety of people living in low-lying areas.

The district administration has stepped up preparedness measures to deal with the situation, with arrangements made for emergency services and the relocation of vulnerable people.

"As the storm is approaching, rain and winds are increasing in the land areas as well. Strong winds and rain are being witnessed across the areas that have been warned to bear the brunt of the severe cyclonic storm," a resident said.
