Bhubaneswar, May 29 -- Lady Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Sandhyarani Jena of Talachua Marine police station in Kendrapara district was suspended over allegations of assaulting a mother and son inside police custody.

The Director General of Police reportedly ordered her suspension on Thursday after complaints surfaced alleging that the officer physically assaulted the complainants after they visited the police station in connection with a family dispute.

A woman named Annapurna and her son Ananta reportedly went to the police station to lodge a complaint over a domestic issue.
