Bhubaneswar, June 2 -- A criminal case was registered against suspended Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Sandhyarani Jena of Talachua Marine Police Station in Kendrapara district on Monday. This marked a significant development in the alleged custodial assault case involving a mother and her son.

The case was registered at Talachua Marine Police Station after allegations surfaced that the officer had physically assaulted the complainants in police custody. The development comes days after the Director General of Police reportedly ordered her suspension.
