Bhubaneswar, May 8 -- In a significant move to curb noise pollution caused by modified vehicle silencers, Jeypore town police seized 85 modified silencers on Friday and destroyed them during a special drive. The operation, initiated three days ago, targeted youths who replaced original silencers with louder, modified ones, causing disturbance to residents.

The loud noise had affected everyone from elderly citizens to children, creating problems for pedestrians and local commuters alike. Using a troller, the police crushed all the confiscated silencers, while vehicles were re-fitted with their original silencers.
