Bhubaneswar, June 25 -- Police on Thursday demolished a godown allegedly linked to a streetlight theft racket in Bhubaneswar, Odisha intensifying action against those accused of stealing public infrastructure and selling it through illegal scrap businesses.

The demolished structure is allegedly associated with Sheikh Jaibur and Sheikh Hamid, who have been under the scanner of kharavela nagar police for their suspected involvement in a series of theft cases in the capital. While Jaibur has already been arrested, Hamid remains absconding.

The action comes days after police uncovered the theft of Smart City electric poles installed by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation along Janpath. Jaibur was arrested earlier for allegedly dismantling...
