Bhubaneswar, March 17 -- The Union Government has said that housing and land are primarily State subjects, and schemes related to housing for citizens, including young adults, first-time homebuyers and working professionals, are mainly implemented by States and Union Territories. However, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) continues to support these efforts through central assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U).

Launched on June 25, 2015, PMAY-U aims to provide all-weather pucca houses with basic civic amenities to eligible urban beneficiaries, including youth and working professionals, across the country.
