Bhubaneswar, April 4 -- The Union government on Saturday approved a major road infrastructure project in Odisha, aimed at strengthening connectivity and improving road safety across several districts. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari announced that an amount of Rs 447.11 crore has been sanctioned for the upgradation of the Kurumpuri-Raj Khariar section.

 The project will cover a stretch of 103.52 kilometres across National Highways 353 and 59, passing through Nuapada and Bolangir districts.

 

These highways form a crucial interstate corridor linking the Raipur-Mahasamund region of neighbouring Chhattisgarh with Odisha, and further extending towards Berhampur and Gopalpur Port.
