Bhubaneswar, Oct. 13 -- Centre has approved Rs 2,100 crore for the development and expansion of Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda. Plans are reportedly underway to upgrade it to international standards.

Bargarh MP and Airport Advisory Committee chairman Pradeep Purohit said that the funding would support infrastructure upgrades, runway expansion, a new terminal and the operation of larger aircraft.

The airport's future expansion, passenger facilities and new flight connections were discussed at a meeting of the Airport Advisory Committee on Monday, chaired by Purohit.
