Bhubaneswar, Aug. 3 -- Two Class VII girls were seriously injured after a portion of the classroom ceiling collapsed at Orakal High School in Pipili block of Odisha's Puri district on Monday.

The incident occurred while the students were attending classes. Chunks of concrete from the classroom ceiling suddenly fell, injuring the two girls seated inside. The injured were later rescued and rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Pipili, where they are undergoing treatment.

The fatal mishap has sparked serious questions as the ceiling had reportedly undergone repair work only a few days ago. Local residents and parents have alleged that poor-quality construction and substandard workmanship may have led to the collapse.
